During the summer of 2010 we began a strategic planning process with the SAVI Advisory Board. The results of this work include a refined vision and mission statement for SAVI to better clarify its role in an increasingly data-centric world; an impact model to define SAVI’s outcomes and intended impact; a conceptual model to better define the primary components, outcomes, and priorities of SAVI; and a 5-year strategic plan with strategic and operational goals and objectives. Jake Cowan, NNIP alumni and consultant, presented on the completed "Monitoring Impact" guide. The guidebook frames defining and measuring performance for local data intermediaries, based on two key concepts – impact through positive influence and performance management. Jake was joined by Sheila Martin (Portland) and Erica Raleigh (Detroit) who shared their perspectives on performance management.
Data Driven Detroit (D3), in partnership with the Urban Institute, is working under contract to the Office of Minority Health (OMH) to provide technical assistance to two sites with the aim to further the development of a local data intermediary following the NNIP model. During this year-long project the team will select and engage with each site to provide one-on-one technical assistance related to setting up and sustaining local data intermediary functions.

It is critical that our organizations reflect the diversity in our communities and are inclusive of all people. Over the past several years, NNIP HQ has been intentionally thinking about how to more deeply embed diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the activities of the NNIP network and its partners.
