Putting data in the hands of the community is a valuable and sustainable way to affect individual and neighborhood-level change. This skill-building workshop will demonstrate how community residents and community-based organizations have engaged in different data discussions.

Participants will navigate their way around the workshop room to experience a “data walk.” The data walk will showcase efforts to combine the skills of research experts with the deep knowledge of community residents. It also will feature examples from the National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership and the DC Promise Neighborhood that highlight the sharing of data with community groups to spur new conversations and inform strategies.

The data walk will include small-group discussions modeled after meetings the presenters have facilitated with community members, or they will feature generalized questions inspired by real examples of community data use.
