Center for Economic Information creates Sustainable Places initiative

Under the leadership of MARC (convening member of the CWIN collaborative, which is the effective organizational entity constituting KC’s NNIP partnership) Kansas City was an awardee in the first round of the joint HUD/EPA Sustainable Communities grant program. Implementation of the grant is going forward in metropolitan Kansas City as the Creating Sustainable Places initiative. CWIN is written into the initiative as the entity with responsibility for development of the integral sustainability indicators component which is a grant requirement. MARC and CEI are leading the CWIN committee charged with this responsibility. Indicator specification is expected to be accomplished within 6 months. At its initial meeting the committee formally adopted the NNIP Shared Indicators framework as the context for CSP indicator program development.
