Director of Resource Development and Communications

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Director of Development and Communications at Urban Strategies Council will have strategic and operational responsibility for the organization's development and communications activities. She/he will manage all fundraising efforts for the Council, a $2.5 million organization, to ensure the organization's financial needs are met. She/he also will oversee communications efforts including the website, social media, press relations and other communications related activities.
The Director of Development and Communications will be part of the Council’s senior leadership team that, in partnership with the CEO and Board, drives the overall strategy for the organization and ensures the success and sustainability of the Council. This is a new position and will complement the current development activities of program staff, all of whom currently write grant and contract proposals, and support the Board in its planning for increasing individual donors.
The selected candidate will be expected to begin immediately supporting ongoing development of grants and contracts and to plan for new resource development strategies including a first-time individual donor program. In addition the candidate will coordinate existing communications activities and work with staff to develop a comprehensive communications plan.
