DataHaven (ctdatahaven.org) is a non-profit organization with a 20-year history of public service in Greater New Haven and Connecticut. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life of our community by compiling, interpreting, and sharing high-quality public information. DataHaven is a formal partner of the National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership, a collaborative national effort by the Urban Institute and local partners to further the development and use of neighborhood information systems in local policymaking and community building.

The Data Manager/DBA is a full‐time technical position based in downtown New Haven, Connecticut. The Data Manager/DBA will implement our core initiatives, including the creation and analysis of information for the Connecticut Data Collaborative (ctdata.org), a statewide public-private partnership. Primary areas of responsibility include data extraction and analysis, database development, and project documentation. The Data Manager/DBA will help manage relationships with information providers and users across Connecticut, assist with web application development, and supervise other data analysts.

DataHaven is seeking a professional with strong project management skills, who can identify and analyze needs, implement new procedures, and juggle multiple projects and timelines to get the work done. The ideal candidate will enjoy solving a variety of problems, be technically creative, and able to work independently in a fast-changing environment. The Data Manager/DBA will be comfortable working with a diverse group of employees, agency partners, researchers, and the general public to help them become more effective and more productive, regardless of their technical sophistication. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• B.S. or higher in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience;
• At least 2-3 years of experience creating and managing relational databases (such as SQL, PostgreSQL), working with data, and providing related IT support;
• Fluency in tools for analyzing and wrangling large data sets (such as Python);
• Exceptional attention to detail, and experience in assessing integrity of and cleaning data;
• Curiosity and love of data.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Proficiency with statistical and data analysis techniques and programs (SPSS, R);
• Experience with open data / API platforms, website development with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Django, Git/Github, Linux web stacks, and various data visualization and mapping software;
• Proficiency with ESRI GIS software products including knowledge of cartography using desktop and server software;
• Experience working within local or state government and/or on public policy issues.

DataHaven is a small 501c3 non-profit, and each employee plays a critical role in building our organization. At this time, contracts and grants support the Data Manager/DBA position for approximately two years. Continued employment will be contingent upon funding as well as on successful ongoing completion of the duties described above. We conduct a formal performance review every 6 months and ask for a minimum commitment of 12-18 months.
