The Community Platform is a project of Urban Institute’s National Center for Charitable Statistics. It comes prepopulated with NCCS’s data on nonprofit organizations and Census community indicators data (ACS) and offers a range of tools for mapping resources in relationship to needs; analyzing nonprofit organization finances; uploading local indicators and lists of resources or needs; managing community and neighborhood projects; tracking program-level outcomes for nonprofit organizations working alone or in “collective impact circles;” managing a local library of knowledge resources; sharing stories; creating custom widget-driven “landing pages” for neighborhoods, towns or user communities; sharing resources and volunteers among nonprofit organizations; and more. The look and feel of each site is customized for the local partners.

Our goal is to provide our local partners with a flexible “toolkit” to help them work with distributed networks of local nonprofit organizations, governments, and community leaders to meet both the needs of these subgroups as well as of the community as a whole.
