Since the year 2000, the Delaware Valley’s communities have averaged more than one major flooding incident per year. Rapid snow melts, storms, and hurricanes, combined with failures in dams have formed a backdrop for a series of floods in the region since 2000.This report evaluates how the physical geography of the Delaware Valley region (with its many rivers, streams, and wetlands) and continuing development pressures have increased the risks and consequences of flooding.
