The American Mortgage System: Crisis and Reform (Two chapters)

Book by Ingrid Gould Ellen, John Napier Tye, and Mark A. Willis

Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy   (New York)

The two chapters are on the secondary market for housing finance in the United States, and the book was published by University of Pennsylvania Press in 2011. The first chapter provides an overview of the structure of the U.S. housing finance system prior to 2008 when the GSEs were taken into conservatorship.  The second chapter looks forward and evaluates alternative models for the future of the U.S. housing finance system.
