Addressing neighborhood public safety inequities through data-informed investment 

The Polis Center a IUPUI collaborated with the Indianapolis City-County Council to build an equity model and index map to inform the council’s allocation of $1.25 million dollars for community-based public safety initiatives across its 25 districts. This is the first time the council has used data to make an equitable funding decision rather than distributing funding equally across districts. This presentation will share the model, how it was used in the decision-making process, and the impact of the work.
