Organizations implementing comprehensive place-based initiatives are often innovators in their communities, pursuing neighborhood change along multiple domains. Leaders of comprehensive initiatives find that clear goals and simple metrics to understand neighborhood progress on a range of indicators is an important way to communicate with partners and stakeholders. But when it comes down to it, it is a difficult task for community organizations and their partners to understand what measuring impact really means.

This workshop will help organizations working on neighborhood revitalization understand neighborhood progress and calculate the estimated impact of place-based programs on neighborhood indicators of interest. Using case studies from two communities and the experience of the Promise Neighborhoods initiative, the workshop will offer methods for tracking neighborhood change, setting goals, and understanding how specific programs move the needle.
