PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Management, Analysis, and Quality Assurance

  • Coordinate the development, expansion and implementation of data updates and new data analysis, including relevant research of data sets and quality assurance.
  • Collect, process, analyze, and/or geocode data sets from a wide array of sources for inclusion in products and publications.
  • Implement, oversee, and improve upon protocols for quality control of data analysis to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Document limitations of data sets to ensure a high level of transparency.
  • Document and develop the standards and processes for data research.
  • Collaboratively create and produce high-quality technical publications, or pieces of publications, including data tables, maps, graphics, PowerPoints, web pages and printed materials that are consistent with The Data Center’s brand platform.
  • Develop and maintain architecture for storage of organizational assets and institutional knowledge.
  • Coach staff in procedures for interfacing with data systems and storage.
  • Maintain thorough working knowledge of current best practices and latest technologies available to support data analysis and data management.
  • Provide input on short– and long–term strategic and operational planning and positioning of the organization.
  • Track substantive deliverables of grants and contracts.
  • Contribute to the development and tracking of data (including web stats, twitter metrics, etc.) to support the evaluation of communications.
  • Monitor and communicate frequently the process and progress of projects.

Research

  • Conduct literature reviews, particularly on topics such as coastal, demographics, and economic trends to be incorporated into published materials.
  • Identify and analyze key economic, demographic, market, and development trends as well as the factors that shape such trends.
  • Assist senior staff in proposal development as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in relevant field, with minimum 4 years work experience in data management and/or big data analysis.

Demonstrated competencies in or demonstrated ability to quickly learn: Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; statistical software packages such as SPSS; ESRI ArcGIS; Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver; Google office products.

Demonstrated very strong attention to mathematical details, strong data analysis skills, good information design skills, and strong communication skills.

Demonstrated skills at organizing files and information, conducting research, and processing/ managing large amounts of data.

Ability to work independently on executing tasks and projects. Willingness to be flexible and creative in tackling unique problems. Demonstrated problem-solving ability.

Ability to juggle projects and prioritize efforts to meet deadlines and accommodate the needs of the larger team. Ability/willingness to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines. Tenacity in the face of new information and obstacles.

Must be a team player with a passion for the mission of The Data Center.

Must reside in the greater New Orleans area or Southeast Louisiana, and be available to attend frequent in-person meetings.

No outside business interests that may conflict with the organization’s goals and objectives and not explicitly approved by the Executive Director.
