Django Developer

The Providence Plan seeks a Django programmer to support their mission of democratizing data for the City of Providence and the state of Rhode Island.

As a ProvPlan Information Group programmer you get to:

• - Work with and contribute to open source projects
• - Create products that will be used by community organizations and the public
• - Use the latest web technologies. Some of our current favorites are Rails, jQuery, Protovis, OpenLayers and Django
• - Wrangle, map, and visualize large and interesting datasets
• - Work as part of a small team. No bureaucracy, few meetings
• - Design user experiences and interfaces

Our development environment is based on Linux, Git and Github. Experience with some version of source control is required, preferably Git. Familiarity with the Linux command line is also a plus.

While this is a Django position, there are opportunities for working with a variety of technologies. Willingness to learn and work with Ruby on Rails is a plus.

JavaScript and CSS experience is a plus.
