Community Information Now (CI:Now) is hiring for a new part-time position in a small team of passionate, innovative, community-minded data and community engagement geeks.

CI:Now is a source of local data and information for community improvement:  among other functions, we collect, analyze, visualize, and communicate data and information that planners, service providers, advocates, and residents use to transform neighborhoods and solve community problems.  CI:Now works closely with many strong local organizations and place-based initiatives that both need and generate data related to education, health, employment, housing, crime and safety, the natural environment, and civic vitality.  Please visit our website to learn more about our work:  http://nowdata.cinow.info/whatwedo/ .

CI:Now has built the innovative CommunityViewer integrated data system in response to an urgent community need for integrated data about people and place (http://nowdata.cinow.info//CommunityViewer/ ).  Integrated data helps break down service system silos so that human service systems can collaborate to transform neighborhoods and communities.  This part-time position (20-30 hours per week) will provide leadership in coordinating the growth and management of CommunityViewer.

Key areas of work include:

  • Managing the workflow to connect new agencies and datasets to CommunityViewer, including supporting community agency administrative and data/IT staff in understanding CommunityViewer’s purpose, how it works, their roles, and the process of “stitch-in”.  When needed, assisting in preparation of public-use datasets (without PII) for load into Public Reports.

  • Leadership in developing CommunityViewer indicator definitions and developing and maintaining data dictionaries.

  • CommunityViewer user management and support, including documenting and managing the provision and revocation of user privileges and ensuring users are compliant with training and other requirements.

  • Collaboration with community stakeholders and IT vendors to conceptualize needed functionality and define system requirements.

 CI:Now is looking for someone who:

  • is highly detail-oriented and skilled in managing complex processes and systems;

  • demonstrates a high level of integrity and respect for both the letter and spirit of policies and procedures intended to safeguard people’s and organizations’ privacy, confidentiality, and data ownership; and

  • understands the challenges of collaboration and has a high tolerance for change, a knack for getting clarity out of ambiguity, and a sense of humor.
