My Brother's Keeper Community Challenge in Oakland

Urban Strategies Council   (Oakland)

September 2015

Urban Strategies Council has been a supporter of the My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Community Challenge and involved in the initial discussions since former Mayor of Oakland Jean Quan signed the pledge for Oakland in February of 2014. Additionally, we have been participating in regional discussions to help inform a Bay Area wide MBK effort and identify areas of alignment with the other Bay Area MBK communities.  Since then, Mayor Libby Schaaf’s office’s and the East Bay Community Foundation conducted an Oakland MBK local action summit where Urban Strategies Council was invited and presented on the work of the Oakland-Alameda County Alliance for Boys and Men of Color (BMoC) where we serve as the convener for the initiative.
