Urban Design and the Color-Line

Urban–Greater DC   (Washington, D.C.)

2020

Urban–Greater DC team members are partnering with the High Line Network (HLN) and Harvard University Graduate School of Design for a one-year pilot project, Equitable Impacts Framework pilot (EIF pilot), to help HLN members on developing equitable impact frameworks related to their infrastructure reuse projects (related to the work that the Urban–Greater DC team has done in DC with the 11th Street Bridge Park).

For the first part of the pilot, Harvard GSD will be pairing students in a course called Urban Design and the Color-Line with HLN projects to do some foundational work on equity frameworks. Urban's role is to provide support to Harvard during the coursework phase of the EIF pilot, including engaging with students, contributing content to the course, as needed, and providing feedback to students on ways to engage effectively with HLN pilot participants. Urban will support the implementation coaching phase of the project, organizing and setting agendas for coaching calls with HLN, resulting in the groundwork for future equitable development plans and a summary report that can help inform the equitable development field.
