Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University (https://kinder.rice.edu/ ) currently has a position opening for a GIS Developer. This position supports the development and launch of the Urban Data Platform (UDP).

The UDP is envisioned to be a conduit, receptacle and portal for Houston focused geospatial data. As Kinder begins year 2 of a 3 year effort the GIS Developer will work collaboratively with project team comprised of: data managers, GIS analysts/ technicians, and business system analysts to lead the following efforts:

- Design, deploy and maintain Enterprise/SDE Geodatabases;

- Develop efficient and sustainable ETL (extraction, transformation and load) procedures;

- Develop applications that provide geographic data products and services in the following environments

1) Secure (virtual machine) for researchers and 

2) Public (web based) for members of the broader Houston community.

- Work to develop and maintain geospatial data standards: processing, documentation and metadata.
