September 2016

Urban Strategies Council   (Oakland)

This fourth annual public education progress report by Urban Strategies Council for the Oakland Achieves Partnership for the first time includes data from all charter schools in the city. The report includes 2014-15 data on indicators in topics ranging from school readiness to elementary school reading, middle school math, high school graduation rates, university eligibility, college enrollment, attendance, and suspension rates.

In 2014-15, 26% of Oakland's public school students attended a charter school, making access to data about the well being of students in charter schools particularly important. Urban Strategies Council has long had a data-sharing partnership with the Oakland Unified School District. For the first time, we obtained similar student level data from each charter school in Oakland.
