The New Orleans Youth Index

December 15, 2015

How are the children doing? Our first attempt to answer that question was in February 2015 with the release of our child poverty brief. This statistical snapshot of the well-being of New Orleans children/youth is an expansion on the answer to that question. The purpose of The New Orleans Youth Index is to inform the development of goals and strategies that can improve outcomes for children/youth age 0 to 24. The New Orleans Youth Index provides comparisons between the city, the state, and the United States wherever possible. Most of the indicators are drawn from publicly available datasets. As leaders select goals and strategies, future reports will measure progress over time.
