Poverty Center and First Suburbs Consortium are Teaming Up

Center on Poverty and Community Development   (Cleveland)

August 2015

The Povery Center is embarking on a new project with First Suburbs Consortium, in which they'll be working with suburban communities and relevant Cuyahoga County departments to learn more about Cleveland’s inner-ring suburbs’ current code enforcement procedures. Code enforcement is the prevention, detection, instigation and enforcement of violations of statutes or ordinances regulating public health, safety, and welfare, public works, business activities and consumer protection, building standards, land-use, or municipal affairs, as published by Schilling and Hare

Through this work, The Poverty Center will gain a deeper understanding of how cities collect and store code enforcement data. Based on findings, they will make recommendations on how to align code enforcement data across the first suburbs and make recommendations for a shared code enforcement technology system. This project is funded and supported by the Cleveland Foundation.
