The Urban Affairs Association has presented the award for the "Best Conference Paper of 2013" to Erica Raleigh, director of Data Driven Detroit, and George Galster for their paper entitled "Neighborhood Disinvestment, Abandonment and Crime Dynamics".

The achievement was officially recognized at the 2014 conference in San Antonio. Papers are subjected to the normal Journal of Urban Affairs review process, and finalists are determined by composite review comments. The award winner is selected by an ad hoc committee designated by the chair of the Governing Board.  The paper will soon be published in the Journal of Urban Affairs.
