Whether you want to win on the campaigns and issues that matter to the communities and people you care about, or ensure the public's right to information with which they can hold government officials accountable, or build the tools and infrastructure the social justice sector will need for years to come, open data matters. This session, led by two preeminent and thoughtful leaders in the field, will discuss components of data driven cities, stories of use, obstacles to accessing and democratizing public data, and tools and tips for how to overcome. Through a combination of presentation and fishbowl activities, sites will both learn from the experiences of others nationally and be provided opportunities to share and workshop specific challenges sites face in building open data capacity for the long haul.
